A reported shooting in Antioch leaves one dead, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police are investigating a self-defense claim following the fatal shooting of Maurice Blackmun in the 100 block of Denise Drive.
Witnesses say that police went into the residence when Blackmun began to confront Adrian Harvell. Blackmun reportedly put Harvell in a chokehold and took him into the living room where he proceeded to threaten violence to multiple witnesses. Harvell pointed a gun at Blackmun and demanded to be released before he opened fire on Blackmun.
Blackmun was struck by gunfire and died at the scene. Police reported that no charges have been placed on Harvell.
