Council Plans to Raise Hotel Taxes

Updated: Feb 1, 2019

Murfreesboro city council plans to vote on an increase in hotel and motel taxes by 5 percent per stay on January 31, 2019.

The reason for raising the taxes is to improve the tourism attractions in Murfreesboro. By enhancing the tourist attractions, it can lead to more tourism and more money in the city.

The extra money will not just go to tourist attractions but will go towards Park and Recreation facilities such as Adams Tennis Complex, soccer fields, and baseball fields.
