Man Charged with Heroin Overdose Death

MURFREESBORO, TN- William Green, 41, of Murfreesboro has been indicted and charged in connection with the 2019 overdose death of a man found dead at a gas station back in June 2019.


Green was already in custody on unrelated charges at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He has been charged with the Sale of Schedule II and Second-Degree Murder.


On June 20, 2019, Murfreesboro Police officers responded to a call about an unresponsive person at the Speedway gas station on Rutherford Blvd..


Christopher Compton, 34, was pronounced dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel.


"Members of the Murfreesboro Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Middle Tennessee Overdose Drug Task Force are pursuing the successful identification, apprehension and prosecution of individuals contributing to drug overdose deaths," said Chief Michael Bowen.
