The Middle Tennessee State University men's tennis team will be protecting their 28-game home winning streak Friday against Georgia State. This game will mark the end to a great season by both teams. MTSU comes in with a record of 13-7, and a home record of 10-0. Georgia State is 14-5 on the year.
“It should be a very competitive match, they are a good team and we will be looking to come out of the gate strong.” said MTSU head coach Jimmy Borendame.
For MTSU this will also be the last home match for several of their key players; graduate students Oskar Michalek, Tom Moonen, and Max Rauch.
“ I can't believe it's the last match for Oskar, Max, and big Tom. It's been really
cool to see how they've developed their games as well as people,” said Borendame.
In this final game, MTSU will be hoping to end the season with an undefeated home record. A season that has seen C-USA Co-Player of the Year awarded to senior Chris Edge and also the emergence of Francisco Rocha as one of the top singles players in the country with a current record of 20-7 on the season.
“We’ve had a really challenging schedule this year, playing all power fives and mid-majors. It's been fun playing against the best in the country and proving that we can keep up and compete,” said Edge.
The match starts Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Adams Tennis Complex.
