MTSU Women’s soccer will host Sam Houston State on Sunday after coming off a huge 8-0 win over Chicago State last Friday.
The Blue Raiders will welcome a new opponent to conference play this year with Sam Houston going to Conference USA from the Western Athletic Conference. Sam Houston is also coming off a 2-1 win against Louisiana Tech last Sunday.
MTSU’s big win against Chicago State gave the team more confidence with Coach Rhoden saying, “Any time you win a game there’s a renewed sense of optimism, I think for us it’s more about preparing for the next opponent in Sam Houston.” Continuing, “They’re ahead of us in the table so we expect them to be a strong and formidable opponent.”
MTSU will have their second home match in a row and are coming off a win with more time to prepare for the match. “Having a full week to prepare certainly helps us, but it also helps Sam Houston because they have a full week to prepare as well.” Coach Rhoden said. He also added “I think our main focus is on continuing to build on a lot of the positives from last game.”
The Blue Raiders are looking to get their fifth win of the season and first in conference play. The match will be on Sunday October 8th at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium at 1 p.m. CT. The match will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
