The Smyrna Fire Department recently received a grant of more than $35,000 from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The grant money will be used to purchase three mobile LED light towers.

Smyrna Fire and Police Departments plan to use these towers to alert drivers when authorities are responding to numerous incidents.

“Illuminating the entire scene of an accident will mitigate the risk of injury to our personnel,” says Chief Bill Culbertson. “Smyrna Fire Department is grateful for the support of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.”

This is the second grant awarded to the SFD from the foundation. More than $8,500 was awarded to the department in 2011.
