The game puts the lady raiders one game over .500 on the season with a record of 7-6 making the lady bulldogs 4-4 on the year.
MTSU Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall spoke about the team’s confidence coming off the win.
“Moral is good you know it’s a revenge match,” said Coach Bailey-Duvall
The Blue Raiders started their pink out game strong, winning the doubles point on courts two and three.
Court three finished first with Love-Star Alexis and Lily-Sophie Schmidt in a 6-1 win against Samford’s Samantha Nanera and Sofia Zaprianov.
Court two saw action from Zani Barnard and Eloise Swabrick facing off against the Bulldog‘s Olivia Jablonski and Lindsay Song.
Barnard and Swabrick won their double match 6-2 giving MTSU a 1-0 start on the match’s score.
Court one with Lee Barnard and Noelle Mauro was left unfinished as the other court’s quick play decided the fate of the doubles point as they faced Samford’s R.J Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez.
As the singles competition started, the lady raiders got out to an early start securing first set wins on all courts except for court one.
Finishing first was Love-Star’s match on court three against Alexis’s Lopez.
Love-Star won swiftly by 6-3, 6-2 in the first two sets pushing the MTSU lead to 2-0 on the match score.
Court one saw struggles from Lee Barnard as she went up against Samford’s R.J. Van Rensburg.
Lee Barnard lost in back to back sets 6-3, 6-4.
Lee Barnard’s loss would give Samford their only point of the match making the match score 2-1.
MTSU would cruise to victory winning the next match point on court four followed by wins on courts two and five.
