Veteran Officers Retire

Two Murfreesboro veteran police officers announced their retirement after service a combined fifty-three years.

Officer Deric Haynes and Officer James Smith dedicated fifty-three years combined to the department.

Haynes served thirty-two years with the department, serving as a patrolman from 1987 to this year.


Smith served twenty-one years and eight months with the department working as a motorcycle officer and parks officer after he started in 1996.


Murfreesboro Police Chief Michael Bowen thanked the officers for their service to the department.


The ceremony was held Friday, November 9th at the Murfreesboro Police Headquarters.
